Don’t Think—Play

Campaign / Experience / Typography
Challenge

The UK is facing rising stress levels within adults and this affects their approach to everyday life. I wanted to develop a campaign with the aim of reducing stress in adults through the use of interactivity and play.

Solution

Space is designed to be an option for people who are struggling with stress as a way to calm down quickly in that moment. To combat stress in adults I wanted to focus on the source of the problem and a common crutch for people; their computers and smartphones. After researching into a lot of circumstances that play can happen, I decided to turn the smartphone into a tool for play. Space consists of concepts for both a website and app created using a combination After Effects animation and web coding. The website aims to relax the user through repetitive mini games without them having to move whilst the app encourages you to go out into nature and interact with the Augmented Reality (AR) elements seen on your journey.

As part of my process I looked at how children play and playground equipment which informed the shape of the display typeface. It features a slow moving gradient that aims to relax the user. I designed the identity for the campaign with a colour scheme inspired by nature with a playful twist because of it’s ability to help wellbeing.
